This film is available on other public domain sites. I've read that the copyright has lapsed.

The film has been removed from the archive. I guess that means anyone who wants to download it will be inconveniently forced to visit any of the other eight thousand places on the internet that offer the movie for download or streaming.

I think Ellison doesn't get along well with the internet for some reason.

I suggest reading the thread pointed to in the first post.
http://harlanellison.com/heboard/unca.htm

Harlan Ellison himself has addressed this issue so if your interested in hearing what he has to say about this check it out.

What i get from it is that he's not putting the IA on his hit list and that he has never made any money of the film and he doesn't expect to.

So does this mean the film could be put back up or should it be left out. I would tend to lean toward caution myself. I think this is a very interesting question concerning copyright/public domain. If an item's status is questioned, should the matter be looked into to see if the claim is valid, or should the item be taken down without question just to play it safe? I don't think that's an easy question.

I read Ellison's post and think it definitely should go back up. The only reason it was taken down was because someone on another forum told someone it was there and he said 'I don't care'. The evidence is that the film is PD. Put it back up.

I've got a divx copy I can upload if it's necessary.
